Ted Jonasson will chair the Langruth
Centennial Celebrations organizing group. Ted is a life member of the
community and is very enthusiastic about Langruth centennial. Lawrie
Hilton and Jacqueline Caddoo have agreed to be co-treasurers for the
committee. Lawrie Hilton has also volunteered to be treasurer.
The celebrations are scheduled for the August long weekend from Friday, July 31st, 2009 to Sunday, August 2nd, 2009.
Mark these dates in your calendar and plan to be there. Call your family and friends and invite them to attend.
There will be a new Langruth History Book. Sharron Arksey has
volunteered to chair this subcommittee. Start preparing your family
history and digging out those old photos. Plans are underway to
organize a number of events for the weekend:
- pancake breakfast
- BBQ Suppers
- an ecumenical church service
- parade
- free stage entertainment
- come and go tea
- dance
- various outdoor activities
- beer garden
- fireworks
- self guided tours of points of interest
Most events will be held at the Arena and Sports Grounds.
The Organizing Committee plans to meet on the last Tuesday of every
month until the event. More information about the events will be
published in future issues of the Langruth Views and on the Langruth
web-site.
